The Power of Pictures.  Pictures are a language of universal power.  They reach directly into us, bypassing language, flowering in the hidden chambers of our minds. Like music they coordinate the various levels of our being, affecting us beyond reason. Pictures function symbolically. A street we walk down is ordinarily just a street, a cafe window but a cafe window; but picture them and that very street and window will pulsate with meaning, a meaning which ordinarily eludes us. Pictures arrest time for us, allowing us to examine the flow of life that ordinarily slides past too quickly for examination. Life cannot be properly looked at without the help of picture makers, for they find those moments, those combinations which, when arrested, allow us to look at existence.  -- Laughing Elephant spring 2012 catalog

I love making pictures, but it is a challenge for me to express in words the why of this passion. The quote above from the delightful Laughing Elephant catalog describes my feelings perfectly. Making pictures is about connecting with people. Relationships pieced together make the perfect patchwork quilt.

I reveal myself in the images I share . . .  View my note card catalog.

I love to make new friends and see where my cards have traveled.
